It has irreplaceable advantages to remove subgingival dental calculus with periodontal endoscope. Although the treatment has obvious advantages, it has a certain scope of application, and the severity of periodontitis will affect the effect of periodontal endoscopic treatment.
After endoscopic treatment of severe periodontal pocket, it was found that the PD value and the percentage of BOP sites of single tooth and multiple teeth decreased when it was less than 8 mm, and the PD value and the percentage of BOP sites of single tooth and multiple teeth did not improve significantly when it was more than 8 mm. The effect of single tooth is better than that of multiple teeth, which may be related to root anatomy such as root bifurcation. The research shows that the clinical treatment effect of endoscope on root furcation lesions with degree II or above is not obvious. Even if the endoscope can observe dental calculus, some narrow root furcation areas are still difficult to enter due to the complexity of root anatomical structure and the size limitation of endoscope probe. At this time, subgingival dental calculus can not be completely removed, and the alveolar bone in root furcation lesions with degree II or above has irreversible absorption, and the simple curettage effect is not good, which can not replace bone tissue regeneration treatment.
